New approval expands education and career training opportunities for eligible military spouses

LACOMBE, La. – Northshore Technical Community College (NTCC) has been approved to participate in
the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) Scholarship Program, expanding financial
assistance opportunities for eligible military spouses seeking education and career training.

The MyCAA Scholarship is a workforce development program that provides eligible military spouses with up to $4,000 in financial assistance toward licenses, certifications and associate degrees that lead to employment in high-demand, portable career fields. The program is designed to help military spouses
pursue education and training opportunities that can support career advancement as their families
navigate military assignments.

NTCC began pursuing approval after a student inquired about using MyCAA funding at the college. At the time, NTCC was not an approved institution under the program. Following additional research and
collaboration between college departments, NTCC completed the application process and received
approval to participate.

“At Northshore Technical Community College, we’re committed to supporting those who serve our
country and the families who serve alongside them,”
said Megan Fabian, Veterans Services & Financial
Aid Counselor at NTCC. “I’m excited that MyCAA approval allows us to work not only with our veterans
but also provides an opportunity for our military spouses to apply for scholarships that allow them to
pursue education, career training and new opportunities here at Northshore Technical Community
College.”

Participation in MyCAA provides NTCC with another resource to serve Louisiana’s military-connected
community while helping eligible spouses reduce the financial barriers associated with pursuing
education and workforce training.

The approval also expands the options available to prospective students who may be searching for
colleges and training providers where they can use their MyCAA benefits.
Eligible military spouses interested in attending NTCC are encouraged to explore their MyCAA eligibility
and available scholarship benefits through Military OneSource.
