Lacombe, LA.— Northshore Technical Community College has reached its highest enrollment in the college’s 94-year history, with 6,020 students for the Fall 2024 semester - a 5% increase over the Spring 2024 semester. The college has also seen an incredible 13% increase in student credit hours. NTCC has the third highest enrollment in the Louisiana Community and Technical College System. "We are thrilled to see such a strong response from students who recognize the value of high-quality technical, health sciences, and academic programs at NTCC," said Dr. Jim Carlson, Chancellor.
Enrollment growth has been driven by the introduction of new programs like the Associate of Science in Nursing – Registered Nursing Program and the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program, which offers an Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies degree. In Spring 2025, NTCC will offer Supply Chain and Logistics as well as Industrial Safety programs. “This record enrollment is a testament to the commitment of our faculty and staff, as well as the vital role NTCC plays in the workforce development and economic growth of the entire Northshore region," said Carlson.
High School Dual Enrollment has also increased, with NTCC leading the state among colleges in the Louisiana Community and Technical College System at 2,118 dually-enrolled students. Dual enrollment gives students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school, giving them a head start on college as they earn credits on both their high school and college transcripts for the same courses. Dual enrollment is also an affordable way to earn college credits.
In addition to the new credit-bearing programs and dual-enrollment programs, NTCC is offering new non-credit, workforce development programs that lead to certifications for careers including Psychiatric Technician, Logistics Associate, Logistics Technician, Survey Technician, Emergency Medical Technician, and Healthcare Maintenance Technician.
New programs have been made possible by grant funding from the Department of Labor / Delta Regional Authority’s Workforce Opportunities for Rural Communities Initiative for the Advanced Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Logistics, and Industrial Safety Programs. NTCC will also be offering infrastructure-focused training programs through a Department of Labor grant. The Associate of Science in Nursing program is supported by a Perkins Grant.
NTCC has campuses in Lacombe, Hammond, Bogalusa, Walker, and Greensburg. To apply, visit www.northshorecollege.edu or call 985-545-1500 to schedule an appointment with an advisor. NTCC offers financial aid and scholarship opportunities for qualified students.
