ESL - (English as a Second Language)
Thank you for your interest in the Northshore Technical Community College's ESL program!
This program is for students who speak other languages that are seeking to improve their English for work and life. We are excited that you are taking the steps to build your future and enhance your career goals!
ESL Orientation Important Updates
Testing is part of the orientation process for students to enroll in the ESL program.
- Students will need to bring their own pencils.
- Students should be prepared to complete placement tests. (Approximately 2 - 3 hours)
ONLY THE STUDENT TESTING MAY COME TO THE CAMPUS OR INSTRUCTIONAL SITE FOR TESTING.
After placement testing, students will be enrolled in the NTCC WRU-Adult Education ESL program.
Requirements
A valid government ID (a drivers license, visa, passport will be accepted as a valid government ID) Only one type of government ID is necessary and required to test.

Our ESL program is currently on hold. We are working to offer these vital classes during the Fall 2024 semester.

All ESL/ELA/EL Civics Classes are FREE to attend!
Personal information to complete the registration form (name, telephone number, address, etc.) and Photo ID.
Yes! Students are allowed to have someone accompany them (that they feel comfortable with) to assist in filling out personal information on the registration form. However, guests are NOT allowed to assist the student with tests. The Instructor will help ALL new students complete forms. Children are not allowed.

YES!!! The classes are specifically for students that do not speak English as their native language!
YES!!! The classes are for non-native English speakers at ALL LEVELS ("Advanced", "Intermediate", & "Low" levels). Testing will determine what level English you are classified as in our class.
