Bogalusa, LA – Northshore Technical Community College (NTCC) is proud to announce the dedication of its new YouthBuild facility in honor of the late Dr. Danielle Jenene Keys. The building, now officially named the Dr. Danielle Keys Center for YouthBuild Bogalusa stands as a tribute to her unwavering commitment to education, empowerment, and community transformation.

Dr. Keys, a lifelong advocate for education and public service, left an indelible mark on her community and NTCC through her visionary leadership and tireless dedication. As Executive Director of the YouthBuild Bogalusa program, she transformed the lives of countless young people, creating opportunities for personal growth, education, and professional development.

Chancellor of NTCC, Dr. Jim Carlson, highlighted Dr. Keys’s lasting impact during the dedication: "The dedication of the Dr. Danielle Keys Center for YouthBuild Bogalusa is a testament to her unwavering commitment to empowering young people and transforming lives. Dr. Keys believed in the potential of every student and worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for growth, education, and success. The naming of this center in her memory stands as a legacy of her vision, ensuring her impact will continue to inspire generations to come."

Under Danielle’s leadership, lives were not just transformed, but cycles of generational educational poverty broken, communities and economies strengthened, many were first in their families to graduate from college, and all of this was achieved through her leadership and unconditional love for all,” said Dr. William S. Wainwright, President of Southeastern Louisiana University. Dr. Keys’s career was defined by a commitment to creating pathways to success for those in need. In addition to her leadership at YouthBuild Bogalusa, she founded Serenity Client Services, offering vital support to individuals battling addiction. Her work as a City Council member and Council President included spearheading initiatives like the Maggie Ard Park, a safe and inclusive space for children.

Dr. Eleanor Harris, Director of YouthBuild Bogalusa, spoke about the importance of the new facility: "Our new location marks an exciting milestone for YouthBuild Bogalusa, symbolizing growth, opportunity, and renewed hope for our students and our community. This space will serve as a hub for innovation and empowerment, where young leaders can develop the skills and confidence needed to build a brighter future for themselves and those around them. Together, we are creating a legacy of transformation and success."

YouthBuild Bogalusa is dedicated to empowering young adults by providing education, job training, and leadership development opportunities. Through hands-on learning and community service, students gain valuable skills in construction, workforce readiness, and personal growth. The program focuses on equipping individuals with the tools they need to build successful futures while making a positive impact on their communities.

The Dr. Danielle Keys Center for YouthBuild Bogalusa will continue her mission of inspiring and equipping young people to achieve their full potential.
