Gators 4 Recovery
Gators 4 Recovery (G4R) is a college recovery program (CRP) focused on meeting the needs of students in their recovery process. We know managing the stress of balancing life and school, as well as recovery, can be challenging, and this community provides resources and support.G4R offers intentional support to help students achieve success and grow in their recovery and college journey.
Collegiate recovery programs are not designed to be treatment programs; they are designed to offer extended recovery support on our campuses so you have a safe space and a community of individuals that will maintain your confidentiality, encourage, and support you.
In addition to support for those in recovery and those who are sober curious, we also provide prevention and harm reduction educational activities for students throughout the academic year, utilizing classroom visits, email, and social media campaigns. Our Opioid Education program includes opioid antagonist training for faculty and staff each semester, as well as regular training for students. We have Narcan available on every campus, and students can request assistance with free Narcan via email at counseling@northshorecollege.edu. The Naloxone will be stored in reasonably accessible and designated places in the following campus locations, where applicable: campus security and safety areas; health, wellness, and counseling areas; student service centers; health sciences centers; and collegiate recovery program facilities. NTCC will make the opioid antagonist Naloxone available for rapid administration in the event of a suspected overdose, consistent with the Standing Order for the Distribution of Dispensing of Naloxone or Other Opioid Antagonists.
If you are in recovery or have a passion for health education regarding substance use or supporting people in recovery, email counseling@northshorecollege.edu or complete our Gators 4 Recovery form to join.
G4R meets weekly online. For more information or to join any of our groups, email counseling@northshorecollege.edu.
