The Northshore Technical Community College WorkReady U - Adult Education Department provides adult education and literacy services to our citizens across the Northshore region. A dedicated team of instructors prepare students to improve their essential 21st century academic and digital literacy skiils, prepare for college and career pathways, and to earn a High School Equivalency. We have learning centers across the Northshore providing a variety of class times. Our FREE classes are offered to qualified students at our locations in Bogalusa, Covington, Franklinton, Greensburg, Hammond, Kentwood, Lacombe, and Slidell.

SPRING 2026

Orientations for Spring 2026 Adult Education Session 1 will begin on January 20, 2026. You will find information about the upcoming Orientations and enrollment requirements below.

STEPS TO ENROLL in the Adult Education (HiSET Prep/College & Career Pathways) Program
(ALL steps must be completed)


1. PRE-REGISTER for the Adult Education Program Intake Form Application

2. SIGN-UP for an Adult Education ORIENTATION.

ORIENTATION DATES AND LOCATIONS
Choose the location you plan to attend class and choose an orientation for day or evening classes.

DAY CLASSES

  • NTCC Hammond Campus (January 20, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.)
  • NTCC Lacombe Campus (January 20, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.)
  • NTCC Sullivan Campus—Bogalusa (January 20, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.)
  • NTCC Florida Parishes Campus—Greensburg (January 20, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.)
  • NTCC Slidell-Slidell Regional Education Center (January 20, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.)
  • NTCC Hammond Campus (January 21, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.)
  • NTCC Lacombe Campus (January 21, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.)
  • NTCC Sullivan Campus—Bogalusa (January 21, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.)
  • NTCC Florida Parishes Campus—Greensburg (January 21, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.)
  • NTCC Slidell-Slidell Regional Education Center (January 21, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.)

EVENING CLASSES
To be eligible for evening orientation, students must be 18 years old or older.

  • NTCC Hammond Campus (January 20 & 22, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.) *Must attend both nights
  • NTCC Lacombe Campus (January 20 & 22, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.) *Must attend both nights
  • NTCC Slidell-Slidell Regional Education Center (January 14 & 21, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.) *Must attend both nights
  • Franklinton High School – (January 20 & 22, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.) *Must attend both nights
  • Greater Starlight Baptist Church – (January 20 & 22, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.) *Must attend both nights
  • Tangipahoa Parish Library (Kentwood Branch) – (January 20 & 22, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.) *Must attend both nights

3. You will receive an email from the Adult Education program providing important information about orientation.  Please check your email regularly.  (Check your spam/junk folder if you do not see an email from us in your inbox.)

4. ATTEND ORIENTATION on the day, time, and location you selected when signing up.

You must bring the following with you:

  • A photo ID (examples include: Driver’s License or State ID)
  • If you are 16 or 17 years old, you must have a signed & approved age waiver from your K-12 school board office and a parent/guardian with you for a mandatory 30-minute student intake session.

At Orientation, you will:

  • Meet your instructors and some of the college’s staff
  • Be given an overview of the Adult Education Program, which will include:
    • ways to earn your High School Equivalency Diploma
    • the program schedule and class placement options
  • Take a TABE (Test for Adult Basic Education) test, which allows us to place you at the proper level in the Adult Ed program
  • Learn your placement level and what your class schedule will be

5. ATTEND FIRST DAY OF CLASS on the day and time given to you at Orientation.


IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Arrive 15 minutes before orientation begins.
  • You MUST stay for the entire Orientation – 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for DAY Orientation and 5:00– 9:00 p.m. for EVENING Orientation.
  • If you are 16 or 17 years old, arrive by 7:45 a.m. It's essential to have a signed, approved age waiver from your K-12 school system on the day of registration and to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. (Note, parents or guardians will be released at 8:30 am, the student will remain.)
  • To attend evening classes, you must be 18 years old or older.

Louisiana law now requires all state-funded education programs, including Adult Education, to verify the eligibility of students who enroll in classes. This requirement is tied to both state (Louisiana Act 419) and federal regulations that govern access to publicly funded education services.
