Mobile Labs

The Gator Mobile STEM Lab and Mobile Mechatronics Lab are outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment for hands-on career exploration, STEM events, career fairs, mobile testing and skills training. Serving the Greater New Orleans region plus the five parishes of St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Livingston, Washington and St. Helena, these mobile labs are designed for participants to engage with and explore a wide variety of STEM topics. 

Gator Mobile STEM Lab

The Gator Mobile STEM Lab is an air-conditioned, 28-foot trailer equipped with two slideout alcoves, 8 lab computers with remote internet, foldable aluminum benches and an instructor/presenter station. Several configurations for equipment are available to customize programs for general audiences or specific topics:

  • Mechatronics with Fanuc Industrial Robotics, Festo Meclabs, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and ZSpace VR  
  • Maritime Technology with Mobile Maritime Simulator
  • Additive Manufacturing (3D printing), Drafting and Design
  • Nursing/Allied Health with heart/lung simulator and ZSpace VR for Human Anatomy and EKG
  • Virtual Welding Simualtor
  • HVAC test equipment
  • Arduino and Electronics Kits
  • Sphero Robots
  • Vernier LabQuest sensors and force plates 
  • Hands-on math explorations

Capacity: 10-12 (Due to health COVID-19 protocols and the requirement for 6' distancing, interior capacity is limited to 4 people at a time) 

Interior Dimensions: 28' (L)  x 8' (W) x 8' (H)

Space Requirements: 50' parking with ample space to maneuver and deploy side awning (6') and ramp (10')

Power: Diesel generator or shore power and a solar panel

Grant Funding for the Mobile STEM Lab was provided by LCTCS under a Carl Perkins grant. 

Mobile Mechatronics Lab

The Mobile Mechatronics Lab is an air-conditioned, self-leveling, 40-foot trailer equipped with one slideout alcove, 8 lab computers, folding aluminum lab benches, storage cabinets, an outside viewing monitor and an instructor/presenter station. Many configurations for equipment are available to customize programs:

  • Advanced Manufacturing with an 8 station Festo MPS smart factory
  • Mechatronics with Industrial Robotics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and ZSpace VR Mechanics 
  • Additive Manufacturing (3D printing), Drafting and Design

Grant funding to purchase the Mobile Mechatronics Lab was provided by the U.S. Department of Labor under a Delta Regional Authority Grant
