Math Measures Up invites middle school students to visit Northshore Technical Community College's Lacombe Campus where they explore STEM career options and the programs at NTCC that provide education and training for those careers. The focus is primarily on how measurements are used in those fields and the measurement instruments that are used. Students participate in hands-on activities including measuring distance, volume, force, and time, as well as blood pressure, heart rate, and body mass index. NTCC faculty work with the students to show how measuring is used in the day-to-day activities of the various careers. Students also receive measuring instruments to take back to the classroom (ruler, beaker, tape measure, etc.).
