STEM Workforce

NC3 Certifications

NTCC offers several NC3 training courses, which include relevant, industry-based certifcations for incumbent workers veterans entering civilian workforce and high school juniors and seniors. NC3's mission is to "train and educate the next generation of skilled workers for bright and productive careers." 

Students increase knowledge and skills by actively participating in lectures and hands-on practical labs and completing online curriculum. Each course culminates in an online exam. The student earns a certificate in a topic after passing both the course and the exam. Some courses include more than one topic/exam option. 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

This Worker Health and Safety Awareness Program designed by 3M is customizable. There are three topics available; each with an exam:
  • Respiratory hazards
  • Hearing hazards
  • Head, eye and face hazards

Data Analytics - Harnessing the Power of Data

Data analytics is widely used in nearly every industry today. The prevalence of data and the power of current software tools has created the greatest opportunity to leverage technology to advance knowledge since the advent of the personal computer. From professional sports strategy to vaccine development, data is accelerating progress everywhere. The ability to analyze data is a highly-valued qualification for almost any career path. Many employers say it ranks among the most critical workforce skillsets. Data Analytics NC3 Certification: Harnessing the Power of Data Students will receive NC3 certification as proof of achievement. Participants will:
  • Learn to recognize and understand useful information within datasets
  • Develop a working skillset using data analysis software
  • Create charts, graphs and visuals to analyze data and identify relationships
  • Understand the story in the data and how to communicate it to others
  • Be able to leverage data analytics in their chosen field of study

Precision Measuring Instruments (PMI)

Starrett, Snap-on and NC3 combined their industrial experience and expertise to create a certification that includes hands-on training on instruments that are vital to engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, power generation, and natural resources, to name a few. Those who earn this certification will be proficient in the use of a variety of instruments ranging from tapes and rules to calipers and micrometers. Click here for more details.

Dremel Laser Cutting

This course covers basic knowledge of Dremel laser cutting/etching equipment, proper maintenance, DigiLab software and how to set up the machine with a filtration system.

Coming Soon! Fundamentals of Fluid Power - Hydraulics

This hydraulic training course covers the fundamental principles of hydraulics as well as the individual components. Valves controlling pressure, flow rate, sequence and direction of flow are included and practical exercises are used to demonstrate their operation, based on standard symbol circuits. Maintenance and a systematic approach to fault finding are also covered.

Fundamentals of Industry 4.0 Level 1

This course will introduce the various industrial revolutions and how Industry 4.0, the internet of things, smart factories, and cyber-physical systems are a disruption to the manufacturing industry and discusses the impact and implications that these advancements introduce.

Introduction to Mechatronics: Meclabs

Students will develop competencies to operate and maintain pneumatics, electricity, sensors, actuators, and controls. Utilizing real-world automation devices students will also gain additional skills in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

Fundamentals of Robotics Level 1

This course is designed expose students to the various types of robots and the various ways they can increase productivity in industrial applications. While these robots can replace low skilled human tasks, they require people with technical skills to program, operate and maintain them. Upon completion of this course, student will have worked with various types and brands of robots – learning how to program, teach positions, and work safely with these critical elements of modern industry. Available Courses

Robotics: Planning and Programming

Use control theory, computer programming and modeling to address industrial applications with robotic arms. Two FANUC robots are available: LR MATE 200iD/4S and SCARA SR-3iA. Topics include safety, motion planning, programming and troubleshooting.

Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) 

Apply key concepts for industrial applications of PLCs including safety procedures, diagrams, ladder logic, computer programming, control theory, signal conditioning, signal processing, and interaction with input and output devices
